Year 5 2018 - 2019

Mrs Rowlinson

Miss Collins

Welcome to Year 5!

Can you guess what this term's topic is?
We have already been investigating what life was like for the average Viking, where they came from, how they communicated and how they explored and settled. In the coming weeks we will be getting creative by making shields and Viking boats so keep checking online for updates!
Our Inspirational Text for this half term is Varjak Paw, by S. F. Said.

We've fully immersed ourselves into our inspirational text for this term with lots of drama and a variety of different writing tasks. The children have spent a lot of time trying to view things from perspectives of different characters in the book. We'll share some examples very soon!
Why would it not be a good idea to make a skateboard out of rubber? Do you think it's better to wear cotton or polyester in warmer climates? Year 5 have been investigating such dilemas during our Science lessons this half term because our focus is Properties and their Materials.
Homework is posted on the VLE every Friday, and will support the mental maths skills we are practising for our weekly test.

Spellings are sent home each Fridays, to be tested the following Friday.
