Year 5 2018 - 2019

Mrs Rowlinson

Miss Collins

Welcome to Year 5!

This half term we are investigating all things Tudor!

'We should treasure writers like Berlie Doherty who are incapable of writing a mediocre sentence.'
That's quite a quote from The Sunday Telegraph, isn't it? It's also exactly why this book is our inspirational text - Treason by Berlie Doherty. With rich vocabulary, imaginative description and incredibly important historical refernces - we think the children will love it!

We will add more Tudor information for you over the next few weeks.

Here's a riddle for you:
It takes a giraffe 14-15 months, an elephant approximately 22 months and a gerbil just 25 days. What am I talking about? Year 5 will be discussing this further in class.
In Science we will be investigating the changes that happen to humans and animals, from birth to old age.

Homework is posted on the VLE every Friday, and will support the mental maths skills we are practising for our weekly test.

In line with our new Spelling Scheme, spellings will now be sent home by your child's spelling group teacher every other Monday. Your child will work on their group's letter pattern for two weeks and then they will be tested on the Friday. Spelling books must be in school each day.
