Monday 1.6.2020

Welcome back year 4! We hope you have all had fun over half term. Thank you for sending us all the wonderful work you have been doing on your science and history projects. We have been so impressed with your creativity and all the new information you have found out. Please continue to battle it out on TT Rockstars as a new battle begins today!

Maths - Identify and compare angles

Look at the help poster (Angles and their measurements help poster) to remind yourselves about the different types of angles and their size. Then use this to help you to identify the different types of angles and to compare them in today’s activities (Monday Maths).

SPAG

Today we are going to be revisiting direct speech. Read the information on direct speech and watch the video here - https://www.theschoolrun.com/what-are-direct-and-indirect-speech and go through the PowerPoint (SPAG Direct Speech PPT/PDF 1.6.20) – pay particular attention to the general rules of direct speech towards the bottom. Complete the task (SPAG Direct Speech 1.6.20).

Writing

Seeing that you enjoyed poetry before half term we are going to look at poems again this week. Today we are looking at Haikus. Go through the PDF (Writing Haikus PDF 1.6.20) and the general rules poster (Writing Haiku Poster 1.6.20). Complete the task on the PDF. We have also attached a planning sheet to help you organise your ideas (Writing Haiku Planning 1.6.20).

Guided Reading

Use the title, front cover and blurb to make predictions about the text (Guided Reading Prediction 1.6.20). After you have completed this task, free to read the extract once you have completed the activity (Guided Reading Extract 1.6.20). We have also put Year 4’s recommended reading list on the Home Learning page (Year 4 Recommended Books).
