Welcome to another week Year 6, and what would have been SATs week!

Here's today's work. You'll find no SATs papers here (but feel free to do some if you want).

Maths: Today we are looking at place value.  It is a retrieval lesson but still worth checking out the Powerpoint.  Enjoy!

Writing: This week we will be writing a superhero adventure story with the help of authors Greg James and Chris Smith. They have released a video on the National Literacy Trust website telling you how to create the perefct superhero story.

Also, at the bottom of the National Literacy Trust webpage you will find a link which enables you to downlaod an audio version of their book 'Kid Normal', for free!

The link to the webpage is here: https://literacytrust.org.uk/family-zone/9-12/printable-activities-9-12/write-superhero-story-greg-james-and-chris-smith/

Reading: This week’s guided reading will be based around the first chapter of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. J.K Rowling is releasing videos of celebrities (from the wizarding world and beyond) reading the first in the series of Harry Potter books.

Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) himself reads Chapter One: The Boy Who Lived. You can access the video on the website below. Each week a different celebrity will read the next chapter. I know many of you have already read the series (me included) but it is a joy to hear it read aloud by someone else – and professional actors no less!

If you would like more activities to do at home around Harry Potter then the wizarding world website is full of ideas, including a House Points Competition.

SPaG: This week we have a whole host of SPaG versions of famous gameshows, for you to play at home. These can be played solo or you can pitch yourself against another member of your household. They work best played as a Powerpoint slideshow, as many of them are interactive, but we've ensured the PDF versions still allow you to play if your devices don't support Powerpoint. Today we kick things off with Who Wants to be a Millionaire!
