Literacy
This week’s book is called ‘The Everywhere Bear’ by Julia Donaldson.
Watch the video up to 2:14: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNp_uSODq60
Why is the bear called the Everywhere Bear?
Can you remember some of the places the Everywhere Bear has been?
Or the things he has done with the children in Class One?
Remind the children that the Everywhere Bear is a very special bear to Class One.
If we had an Everywhere Bear, where would you go?
What would you want to do with the Everywhere Bear?
Try to start your sentence with “We would…”
Create a spider diagram of the ideas that are shared.
Model putting a couple of these brilliant ideas in a sentences, e.g. We would visit the zoo. We would swim with mermaids.
Explain to the children that they are going to write about the adventures they would like to have with the Everywhere Bear. They can be as imaginative as they want! But don’t forget to draw a picture to match the adventures after you’ve finished your writing.
Green: Write about 2/3 adventures you would have with the Everywhere Bear.
e.g. We would go to the park.
Amber: Write about 3/4 adventures you would have with the Everywhere Bear, trying to add a bit more information.
e.g. We would go for a picnic in the park.
Red: Write about 5 or more adventures you would have with the Everywhere Bear. Try to use the word and to add a bit more information.
e.g. We would go for a picnic in the park and play on the swings.
Guided Reading
Please use 'Is It Quick?' from our new online bug club books. You will need your child's log in details and you can access the website via our link: http://www.ashdene.cheshire.sch.uk/page/bug-club/74620
From reading the book yesterday and now looking at the front page ask:
“What did we find out about penguins? Are they quick or are they slow?”
“Which animals were fast and which were slow?” Use page 16 to prompt.
“Can animals be fast and slow?”
Read the book again. Remember to reread sentences to develop fluency.
If children are struggling to follow, encourage them to follow with their finger or provide a lollistick
Look back through the book. How many words can you find that include the qu grapheme? What sound does that make again? Ask children to write down the words that they can find in their books.
Phonics
Revisit and Review: Recap phase 3 sounds using flashcars on phonics play
https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/2/flashcards-time-challenge
Tricky and high frequency words (see document attached) Have 9 words on the board- children to attempt to read them all in 10 seconds. (see new words)
Teach: Sorting sounds. Say aloud what pictures you can see. Select the correct pictures that match the sound for each slide.
Practise: Please see Phonics. Tuesday. Practise Activities for all the below activities

Red activity sentence jumble- arrange the words into a full sentence

*For your activities you will need a dice; if you do not have one you can use the interactive one here https://www.online-stopwatch.com/chance-games/roll-a-dice/
Green –. Greedy monster activity sheet crossing off the food as the children subtract the food. Draw the food in to your books if you do not have a printer
