Welcome to Year 5

Happy New (School) Year, and welcome to Year 5!

It was wonderful to meet and talk with many of you at our Parent Presentations this week, and before and after school on the playground. It has been a rather hectic week, but it is lovely to see so many of the children so excited to now be in Upper Key Stage 2.

In our Parent Presentation, we emphasised that for our Year 5 children, being in Year 5 will bring new challenges: not only educationally, but in the expectations we have for their behaviour and self-management. No more blaming Mum, Dad or Grandma for that forgotten water bottle/PE kit/homework - their belongings, their responsibility! We nonetheless appreciate your help and support in promoting and coaxing this organised independence from them!

For those who were unable to attend the evening, the powerpoint presentation and our curriculum overview are available on the Year 5 page.

As mentioned in the presentations, if you have any queries, questions or concerns at any time, please do talk to us. Have a quick chat on the playground before or after school; call the school and leave a message; write us a note or send an email via the office for the attention of myself or Mrs Morgan as appropriate.

We look forward to working with you and your children to have a positive, exciting and educational year!
