Literacy
This week’s book is called ‘The Everywhere Bear’ by Julia Donaldson.
You can read it using this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNp_uSODq60
Have a look at the 5 senses PDF document together.
Thinking about the five senses, which senses do you think we could use to describe the Everywhere Bear?
At the beginning of the story when the Everywhere Bear is all clean and cared for, how would you describe how the Everywhere Bear feels when you touch him? Smells? What he looks like? Sounds like (e.g. does he squeak? Can he speak?)?
If you could choose an Everywhere Bear for your class, what would it look like? Feel like? Smell like? Sound like?
Let the children know that they will be designing their own Everywhere Bear, remembering to think about the 5 senses. Model drawing a picture of an Everywhere Bear. You may want to use the PDF template. Once you have done this, describe the bear and write labels OR a list. (e.g. soft ears, shiny nose, smells like roses, quiet voice)
ALL: Design your own Everywhere Bear, and label or write a list of words/captions to describe your bear.
Guided Reading
Please use 'Is It Quick?' from our new online bug club books. You will need your child's log in details and you can access the website via our link: http://www.ashdene.cheshire.sch.uk/page/bug-club/74620
Today is the last time we read this book, discuss whether the book is a story (fiction) or a factual book (non fiction)
Ask the children “Do you know any stories about quick or slow animals?”
If possible, partner children up (they must remain at their tables) and they each take it in turn to read a page. Encourage expression and intonation when reading, particularly when asking questions!
Ask children to pick an animal from those in a bowl. Think about how quickly your animal will travel in a race with the other animals.
If there is time/space go outside and have an animal race. Make sure children adhere to social distnace regulations. Children will act as their animal and take part in a race. Make sure children really think about how their animal would move.
If you cannot do the race outside, ask children to draw the animals at the finish line of the race. Who crossed first? What was the setting for the race? Who is still running?

Teach: Sentence substitution. Choose a sentence and all read it. Make the same sentence by dragging the words into the boxes. Now have fun with changing some words from the options! Make sure the sentence still makes sense! (See Friday Teach document)
