Happy Wednesday! Enjoy today's learning

Phonics

revisit and review: Tricky and high frequency words (see document below)

Read all words. Hide them- how many can you remember? Write or say them aloud.

Teach: Re-watch the below video which explains polysyllabic words- can you think of a word that has 1syllable? 2? 3? Or even 4?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9S7DY2lgJlU

Practise: Please see Phonics. Wednesday. Practise Activities for all the below activities

Green activity  Children read the two syllables for each word separately and then join them together to read. Can they clap the syllables for each one? (focusing on two syllable words)

Amber activity  How many syllables? Children read the words and segment them into syllables- how many do they each have? (focus on 1, 2 and 3 syllables)

Red activity How many syllables? Children read the words and segment them into syllables- how many do they each have? (focus on 2, 3  and 4 syllables)

Guided Reading Please read ‘The Lost Cow’ E book on Oxford Owls Website. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/api/interactives/13018.html

Remember to reread sentences to develop fluency.

What do you think happens next? Can you draw a picture in your home learning book?  Some ideas could be:

  • they begin to play with the set and notice another toy is missing
  • one of Max’s toys is missing, they tidy away and play with something else
  • Mum calls them for dinner.

Maths

Wednesday *Where possible give your child something concrete (something they can hold and move) to use to help them count eg pennies, stones, counters etc.

Amber – Use the part whole model in the attached document to practise your number bonds of teen numbers. Put a teen number in the top circle and 10 in one of the bottom circles, can you remember what goes in the other circle?

Red – Use the part whole model in the attached document to practise your number bonds of teen numbers. Put a teen number in the top circle and 2 numbers that make that teen number when you add them together.
