Guided Reading:

Please read ‘Popcorn Surfing’ E book on Oxford Owls Website. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/api/interactives/12990.html

Read the book. Remember to reread sentences to develop fluency.

What do you think happens next? Can you draw a picture in your home learning book?  Some ideas could be:

  • They find other things to surf on in the kitchen- water from the tap, fruit in the bowl etc
  • They grow back to normal, eat the popcorn and watch a movie
  • They make something else in the kitchen

Literacy

This week we will be linking our Literacy work to a wonderful story called ‘The Storm Whale’ by Benji Davies.

Please watch/read it together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czczPkmP988

In the story (at 3:33 on the video), Noi hoped that he would see his whale friend again. What do you think Noi would say to the whale if he saw him again? What would Noi ask the whale?

We would like you to imagine that you are Noi and that you could safely send a message in a bottle to the whale. Have a look at the PDF example below.

Green: Write a message in a bottle to the whale that includes 2/3 questions. Start your message with ‘To’ and end with ‘From’

Amber:  Write a message in a bottle to the whale that includes 3/4 questions. Start your message with ‘To’ and end with ‘From’

Red: Write a message in a bottle to the whale that includes 5 or more questions. Start your message with ‘To’ and end with ‘From’

Maths

Wednesday *you will need some dice today – if you don’t have any you can use the online dice https://www.online-stopwatch.com/chance-games/roll-a-dice/ *USE the attached document also.

Green – Using a single die roll and find a shape with that number (for example you may roll 4 – this is a triangle) your challenge is to find something in your home that is this shape. Only use a single die so you are only looking at numbers 1-6.

Amber – Using two dice roll and find a shape with that number (for example you may roll 4 – this is a triangle) your challenge is to find something in your home that is this shape. Once you have found an object, draw it in to your book and label it with what it is and what shape it is.

Red – Using two dice roll and find a shape with that number (for example you may roll 4 – this is a triangle) your challenge is to find something in your home that is this shape. Once you have found an object, draw it in to your book and label it with what it is and what shape it is, how many sides it has and how many corners.
