Sleep

Sleep isn’t just rest—it’s a vital part of your child’s growth and development. During sleep, the brain organizes and stores new information, strengthens memory, and prepares for learning the next day. A well-rested child is more focused, better at problem-solving, and more emotionally resilient.

Several factors can interfere with a child’s ability to sleep well. Common culprits include inconsistent bedtimes, too much screen time before bed, and overstimulation from activities or emotions late in the evening. Physical discomfort, such as being too hot, too cold, or hungry, can disrupt sleep, as can environmental issues like noise or light in the bedroom.

Sometimes, despite parents’ best efforts, a good night’s sleep for their child remains an elusive goal. The following websites might be useful for helping you to identify any obstacles, but please also consult with your GP or health visitor to rule out any health issues.
